Happy Book-O-Versary, Moriah Densley!

...and the giveaway has closed...and the randomizer has chosen a winner: congratulations Julie K! Your prize is winging its way to you now. A big THANK YOU to everyone who stopped by here to chat with Moriah, or stopped by any of the other blogs on the Anniversary Hop to chat with us, learn more about our books and just hang out. What a fun way to celebrate a big milestone!

So this weeks marks a fairly big milestone in the lives of me and several new but good friends - it's our six month book-o-versary. In June our publisher launched into the world and brought us (and our books) along for the crazy ride! Since, we've had several highs, a few lows and have forged a bond of friendship - as authors do.

This week ten of us are celebrating the six month mark that our book-babies have been in the world by doing a round-robin blog hop. Visit our blogs, read about our books, Christmas lists and find out what's going on with us now that we're all experienced and whatnot. ha! And while you're here (and there) we're giving back! One lucky winner will received a new Kindle and copies of our first (or second) books to read over the upcoming holidays - what's better on a cold night than cuddling up with a good book, right? My guest today, Moriah Densley, writes fabulous historical and paranormal romances...Take it away, Moriah!

The hero of my historical romance is an autistic savant and a Crimean soldier with PTSD. Think Rain Man with "X-Men" Wolverine's attitude in Jude Law's body. On a good day, Wilhelm Montegue composes music and fiddles with calculus equations. His bad days are the reason he lives sequestered in the country.

His story isn't all bleeding hearts and sad violin music, though there's plenty of drama. I had way too much fun creating a socially awkward character. He's a disaster, really, especially when he tries to impress Sophia Duncombe, a jaded socialite disguised as a housemaid on the run from her abusive father. The two geeky social misfits clash more than ideas - I love it when the characters fight a bit before they kiss and make up, don't you?

When a few of us Crimson Romance authors decided to celebrate the six month anniversary of our debut releases by making holiday wish lists for our characters, I wondered how bizarre Wilhelm and Sophia's would turn out. What do you think?

On Wilhelm Montegue’s wish list:

Dudognon cognac, in small flasks so he can hide it from Sophia, who thinks she can make him quit.

He needs new boots, but Sophia will have to take away the old ones with holes in the soles before he'll wear the new pair.

Wilhelm also needs more staff paper, or else his next piano composition will stay stuck in his head.

Silence.

All Anne-Sophia Duncombe wants for Christmas is...

A new saddle so she can ride astride and discard that idiotic side saddle. (So what if she scandalizes the neighbors?)

The latest Wilkie Collins novel, or any gothic romance will do, but she'll probably hide it under the bed and keep Balzac on the night stand.

Chocolate-covered peaches.

Cream to dip the peaches in.

Wilhelm. (Without the distraction of the items on his wish list, to help enjoy the items on her wish list. Sometimes a man needs a nudge in the right direction.)

SONG FOR SOPHIA, historical romance released June 4, 2012 from Crimson Romance: “If she truly knows her business, a woman has the mind of a diplomat, a general, and Cleopatra, all in one.” Anne-Sophia Duncombe is ruined, a victim of her father’s high-stakes gambling. Stolen moments at the piano are her boon. Wilhelm Montegue is a washed up war hero, rumored insane. His “condition”–modern diagnosis: savant autism–is the source of his gift for composing music. Anne-Sophia and Wilhelm thought they had missed their chance for love, but anything can happen in the music room.

THE VALKYRIE’S GUARDIAN, paranormal romance released Oct. 22, 2012 from Crimson Romance: http://moriahdensley.files.wordpress.com/2012/03/vg-cover-final-9-25-12.jpg “Augmented strength, lightning weapon, chronic PMS – you’re a valkyrie, Cass.” You might call them superheroes. “Extra-sentients” are one in 4.5 million with the extraordinary ability to unlock the full potential of the mind. Cassiopeia Noyon is descended from the most powerful known extra-sentient, but she’s a dud. No impressive talents except a healing ability which lands her in trouble. She’s all wrong for Jack MacGunn, her dazzling immortal berserker bodyguard . . . until the next storm hits.

Moriah Densley sees nothing odd at all about keeping both a violin case and a range bag stuffed with pistols in the back seat of her car. They hold up the stack of books in the middle, of course. She enjoys writing about Victorians, assassins, and geeks. Her muses are summoned by the smell of chocolate, usually at odd hours of the night. By day her alter ego is your friendly neighborhood music teacher. Moriah lives in Las Vegas with her husband and four children.

  7. Happy six month anniversary Kristina & Moriah (and the rest of the ladies who are celebrating)!

Mariah, I love historicals. SONG FOR SOPHIA sounds awesome (I love that Sophia has a new saddle AND Wilhelm on her x-mas list!) I'll definitely have to add SFS to my TBR list. :)

My favorite part of the holiday season (or, specifically, Christmas) is getting the family together. With everyone having such busy lives these days, it's hard to get our bunch all in one place at the same time. Usually Christmas is the one time of year everybody sets aside to to do just that.

Happy holidays, and best of luck with SONG FOR SOFHIA and THE VALKRIE'S GUARDIAN!

Gift cards for books and restaurants are always on my wishlist but I must say that my best friend surprised me with pineapple Jelly Bellies last year...I had forgotten how much I love them...so any unexpected surprises are always good. Happy holidays to all of you.

  18. "Think Rain Man with "X-Men" Wolverine's attitude in Jude Law's body." -- This sounds like a fascinating character. And what a challenge it must have been to write him! Good on you!

And, well, I don't really have a list. Hanging with the family, knowing everybody I love is safe... these are the kinds of things I'd wish for. The stuff is just stuff. :)

    1. Hi, Vivien. I'm with you - not really a wish list person myself (despite my characters who are). Free time, time to relax (and read!) is my favorite. Hard to put it in a stocking, though, isn't it? And YES, Wilhelm montegue was not easy to write. I deleted the entire first draft - all 140K words - because the characters weren't right. I studied savant syndrome and theoretical caluclus for months before writing the next draft. It was as painful as it sounds, but I simply couldn't fake those aspects of the characters. Thanks for taking a moment to appreciate my "labor of love."

  19. The only item on my Christmas list this year is a Nook. I don't actually need it for reading books, since I've had a Kindle for over 2 years & love it. I need it for my business, which is helping authors who only have PDF copies of their books for distribution to reviewers & as contest prizes, convert them to other formats. I've got the formatting down for making Mobi files, for use on Kindle, but need to test the conversion for Nook before I offer that format as well. http://designerdata.webstarts.com/

  22. I loved when Wilhelm cut that guy's finger without a flinch. In another book I'd expected monologue on moral issues, not here... It made the character much more real. If Jack is half of the fan as Wilhelm was, I'm sold.

  23. I've got Song for Sophia on my wishlist. I love damaged heroes and Wil sounds like a doozy. Best wishes on both of your releases. As for my list, there's not really much on it. I don't actually celebrate Christmas but I do enjoy the decorations and the happy thoughts.
