#TastyTuesday - Brainstorming Recipes

Every fall my RWA chapter meets up for a brainstorming and writing retreat. From Thursday thru Sunday morning we are writing, laughing, eating and brainstorming fiends. The general rule at Brainstorming is this: what happens at brainstorming stays at brainstorming. Which is good because when you get 15 women together for an all girls weekend things can get...well, a little bit crazy.

Friday morning we woke up to all these seagulls on our dock. We're not sure why they chose our dock because we didn't feed them but for nearly the entire morning they sat facing south(ish) in little lines.

Saturday evening we were treated to a sky show - the lake and sky went pink and it was lovely.

Friday evening (I know, skipping around in time, this is how my brain works!) we deconstructed the movie The Proposal (you know, the Sandra Bullock/Ryan Reynolds movie). But before we could get to the real movie we learned one of our members (ahem! not me) watching the wrong proposal - a mob flick that...wasn't what she expected. I won't name any names...unless you ask me really nicely in the comments.

One of the girls brought along my favorite dip (I didn't get a picture, sorry, we'd worked really hard that day and were really hungry and...well, you get the gist) and that's my recipe for today. Here we go:

Scoop & Scarf (aka Scarf and Barf and Scoop and Sniff ... not because you'll get sick or smelly but because we kept forgetting the actual name):

Ingredients:
1 package Cream Cheese (Philadelphia, use Philly...don't go generic)
1 8 ounce jar of salsa (or 8 ounces of your from-scratch salsa, you're choice)
1 8 ounce package of mild cheddar cheese, shredded
chopped black olives and tomatoes, to taste
1 bag of tortilla chips, again your choice my preference is Fritos Scoops

Directions:

Allow the cream cheese to come to room temperature so you can manipulate it and then put the salsa and cream cheese in a bowl. Mix thoroughly. Spread the mixture in a 9X13 pan and then cover with shredded cheese. Sprinkle the chopped black olives and tomatoes over the top and serve. Voila! A great dip for football parties or family gatherings.

  2. My chapter does the same thing the weekend after Memorial Day. It's a fantastic way to start the summer too. :) And I can't wait to make this dip! I'll probably take it to my next chapter meeting. Tweeted.
