#FridayReads: What the Bachelor Gets

Time for another Friday Reads, lovely readers, and this time we're going to Las Vegas! In February the first book in my new Billionaire Cowboys series released, and I'm going to share a little tidbit with you from the first book, What the Bachelor Gets, which is on sale now! Book 2 releases in just over a month ~ yay!

Reviewers are absolutely loving the series; here's a peek at what a few are saying:

"It's impossible not to fall in love with a story by Kristina Knight. I felt right at home with these characters. Gage and Callie kept me on my toes!" ~USA Today Bestselling Author, Nikki Lynn Barrett

OneClickAddict Blog:
5 stars "This was my first book by Kristina Knight but it certainly won't be the last. She had me hooked in just a few short chapters, made me fall in love with her characters and stay glued to my seat until the very last page.... Loved Callie, she's strong and self sufficient, not happy about getting help from a friend. And Gage, not a shark or playboy as some would make him out to be, he's got a heart of gold and a pocket full of cash that gets him what he wants in business. I read this one in one sitting, it will suck you in and keep you turning the pages til the end!"

Nicole, Nicole's Book Musings:

4stars "I really enjoyed this one. I like when the characters have a history especially from their childhood. Callie and Gage have a working relationship, but the attraction is their between them just waiting to flair up.  Neither want to make that step, but the chemistry is just too much to deny."

Excerpt from What the Bachelor Gets:

Standing still in an elevator really shouldnā€™t be this hard. The mirrored doors had swooshed closed about five seconds before. Callie stood beside him, leather attachĆ© slung over her shoulder and hands clasped before her, watching the numbers count down, down, down.
Gage resisted the urge to pull at his tie. But counting down the numbers on the elevator screen wasnā€™t nearly as interesting as watching Callie.
Heā€™d been watching her, goading her a little, since heā€™d realized it was her across the table from him and not a stranger. Not that he could call Callie a friend when he hadnā€™t spoken to her in ten years. She was an acquaintance. That was a good word.
The fact did nothing to temper his response to her. Sheā€™d heated up the office. Now she was turning the elevator into a veritable inferno. From the top of her oh-so-blonde headā€”had her hair always been this shimmery?ā€”to the tips of her oh-so-red toenails, she made him want things.
Drinks on the beach. A quiet dinner by candlelight.
Heā€™d never thought of her this way in the past. She was just Callie. The girl who helped him master calculus, cheered at his football games, and rode her favorite horse beside his lake on hot summer days. The gorgeous woman standing beside him was so different from the buddy he remembered.
The old Callie was smart and tenacious, which made the new Callie a good investment. The old Callie was dedicated to her workā€”another mark in New Callieā€™s favor. The biggest mark in her favor, though, was the empty space in his new development. A space that would be perfect for Callieā€™s business, while also filling a hole in his.
Plus, under the polish of her suit, he could still see his friend. The mistiness of her gaze when she talked about her parents leaving town, the fierce grip when she squeezed her hands together as she made her pitch.
ā€œHave you been to a Rebels game since you got back?ā€ he asked.
Small talk. He hated small talk.
ā€œIā€™m not much for basketball.ā€
ā€œItā€™s actually still football season, but the first preseason basketball games start in a couple weeks. We should catch a game sometime.ā€
Shut up, Gage. Just shut up. He didnā€™t ask business associates out. What the hell was wrong with him?
ā€œOh.ā€
ā€œYou love football.ā€
A smile spread across her face. ā€œMostly I loved the space that cheerleading took up in the ā€˜extracurricularā€™ column of my college applications.ā€
ā€œOh.ā€ How had he never caught that she wasnā€™t into sports?

Better question: how had his radar missed Callie, in general, all those years ago?
